Storage Units in Longmont | Car Cleaning Tips

We've all, at some point or another, been guilty of allowing our car to become a veritable trash can. Here are some tips to get you started on making your car presentable enough to where you can proud, rather than ashamed, the next time you have a passenger.

Throw Out the Easy Stuff

A great first step is to toss out all the empty water bottles, candy and gum wrappers, loose papers, coffee cups, fast food bags, and other items strewn about your vehicle. Bring a clean trash bag with you to the car and spend a few minutes on this task, taking care to search under and in the margins of every seat and inside the trunk. Grab everything you can easily hold in your hand.

Vacuum the Rest

Invest a few coins at your local gas station to vacuum the floor of your car, removing everything you couldn't get to with your hands. The removal of dust, grime and food debris that may have built up since your last cleaning session will have your car looking many times better with only a modest time investment.

Remove Everything From The Car

This step may feel like a hassle initially, but depending on how long it's been since you last managed what you need in the car, it can pay off big time. Take everything out of the glove box, console, center console, from behind the seats, and from the trunk and put it in a pile. Ask yourself "Is this something I need to have in the car?" You will likely find that you can reduce clutter dramatically, retaining only the essentials. You may find old insurance paperwork (or even a lack of current paperwork) that will cause trouble during a traffic stop. You may realize that you lost your ice scraper ahead of actually needing it. Whatever the case may be, this is a great final step for any car owner.
